Mike McGowan has over 30 years of hydrogen experience across a wide range of industries and applications. Mike has acquired extensive expertise in the production, storage, sale, and distribution of hydrogen as well as its use as a chemical component and energy carrier. In his work in the hydrogen space, Mike has collaborated with firms along the entire hydrogen value chain, including multiple automotive OEMS, hydrogen compressor, storage and station providers as well as fuel cell and electrolyzer manufacturers.
Mike launched and led a significant Hydrogen Energy effort for a large North American industrial gas company. He led execution of some of the first hydrogen fueling station projects in North America, serving passenger vehicle and bus fleets as well as material handling equipment for multiple distribution centers and production facilities. Mike has had roles with senior level responsibility for hydrogen production, business development, distribution, product management, and advocacy.
Mike served as the former Chairman of the National Hydrogen Association (NHA) and co-led the merger of the NHA and US Fuel Cell Council (USFCC) into the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA). Mr. McGowan has served on multiple industry and corporate working groups and boards for entities including the Canadian Hydrogen Association, the California Fuel Cell Partnership (now Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership) and the International Hydrogen Infrastructure Group. He holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and English from The University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Columbia University.
