Matti Malkamäki is an accomplished specialist in the hydrogen
business who is dedicated to decarbonizing the industry with
Hycamite TCD Technologies Oy in his role of founder and
Chairman of the Board.
Matti has a degree of M.Sc. from the University of Oulu, Finland in
industrial economics. Since his graduation, he has continued
studying industrial strategies in several universities in Finland and
UK. As part of the product development work at Aurelia, he is now
finalising his doctorate studies at the Lappeenranta University of
Technology in Finland. His research concentrates on modern gas
turbine processes in decentralised and hydrogen fired power
generation.
In his early career, Matti was working for a utility Fortum mostly in Finland and UK in different
manager positions on larger gas turbine plants and industrial services. An entrepreneur by natura,
Matti founded his first cleantech company in 2002 in Finland focusing mainly on selling
microturbines to biogas installations. That company expanded to Germany and eventually was listed
on the Frankfurt stock exchange in 2010. Since then, Matti founded Aurelia Turbines in 2013 to
commercialise technology originally developed by Lappeenranta University of Technology. The
hydrogen capabilities of Aurelia’s products have been developed in cooperation with the German
Aerospace Center, DLR.
Matti has demonstrated a deep commitment to sustainability and has been instrumental in driving
the adoption of clean energy technologies in his many roles.
As member of ECH2A Energy -round table, member of the steering group of Finnish Hydrogen
Cluster, and one of the key persons in the “BotH2nia” -initiative (www.both2nia.com). A widely
sought-after speaker and writer on the topic of growth through innovation Matti has been invited to
speak about the possibilities of hydrogen on various events worldwide. Matti has also written several
articles relating to hydrogen and energy efficiency in LinkedIn and various media.
Mattis´experience in different industries is leading the charge in the transition to a low-carbon
economy and he is righteously doing so with his latest venture with Hycamite´s groundbreaking
technology, which has the potential to revolutionize the way we produce and use energy, helping to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impact of climate change.
