Prof Dr Klaus Bonhoff studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and at the
ENSTA in Paris (France). After being awarded a doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) at RWTH Aachen
University, he worked at the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (Jülich Research Centre), at
Ballard Power Systems GmbH and at DaimlerChrysler AG. He was managing director of NOW
GmbH (National Organization for Hydrogren and Fuel Cell Technonoly) before being appointed
Director-General for Policy Issues at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport in August
2019. Prof Dr Bonhoff is also an adjunct professor at Hamburg University of Technology and
a member of various advisory boards
