Chris Walker, is the Manager of the CCS Center of Expertise in the Gas and Low Carbon Energy Business.
He joined the bp Carbon Capture, Use and Storage team in 2018, developing a participation strategy, performing financial analysis to screen suitable projects and characterizing the subsurface for high-graded opportunities. He led the western hemisphere subsurface squad for CCUS projects, enabling an international team of subsurface professionals to appraise and develop multiple storage facilities that will help deliver bp’s net zero ambition.
He has been with BP for 17 years in a variety of Exploration, Production, Development and Technology roles, working as a structural geologist in a wide range of onshore and offshore basins across the western hemisphere.
He got his undergraduate degree in Earth Sciences from Oxford University in the UK, and his Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science from Columbia University in New York.
